Scholarships

The Theta Iota Chapter of Sigma Nu Fraternity, Inc. is the only fraternal organization at Middle Tennessee State University that offers any scholarship to its members.  Two have been established to memorialize brothers who have transended into the Chapter Eternal.


Mark C. Obert Jr. Memorial Endowed Scholarship, Est. 2008

Mark Christopher Obert Jr. accepted a bid extended by the Theta Iota Chapter in in 2006, but was tragically killed by a drunk driver in an automobile accident before he could be initiated.  With the support of the Active and Alumni Chapters as well as his family, a special resolution was passed at Sigma Nu Fraternity, Inc.'s 64th Grand Chapter in Boston, Massachusetts enrolling Mark as an official Brother of the Theta Iota Chapter as ΘI 551.

An endowed scholarship was created to memorialize Mark and is awarded annualy to outstanding Candidates (new members).

Bob Holian Memorial Scholarship, Est. 2010

Robert John Holian was initiated into the Theta Iota Chapter of Sigma Nu in 2006 in the Beta Beta Candidate Class as ΘI 476.  Being from Connecticut, he found his second family among the brothers of Sigma Nu.  Bob unexpectedly passed away in 2007.  With the support of his family and friends, a memorial scholarship was established to be awarded annually to a Brother that exemplifies a passion for life, a love of family, a loyalty to friends and a caring for others.
