At the 62nd Grand Chapter Awards Banquet held this evening in Indianapolis, IN, the High Council of Sigma Nu presented six chapters of Sigma Nu, including Theta Iota, with the Rock Chapter Award. The Rock Chapter Award honors collegiate chapters that have achieved excellence in eleven areas of chapter operations.

The original Rock Chapter Award concept was an innovation of Sigma Nu’s highly respected Executive Secretary, Brother Dick Fletcher. It was a long-standing dream of Brother Fletcher that an award to appropriately recognize chapter excellence would be an inspiring example for others to follow.

To give the award special distinction, walnut from the hills surrounding V.M.I. would be used, implanted with a piece of the original Rock upon which the Legion of Honor was founded.

Theta Iota Chapter was also awarded the following:

• National Alumnus of the Biennium - Tony Marable
• Alumni Chapter Officer of the Year - Michael Davis
• Achievement in Excellence, LEAD Program, Phase IV

Furthermore, our very own chapter advisor, Tony Marable, was elected to the High Council as Vice Regent of the General Fraternity. Marable will serve for the next two years on High Council and at the 63rd Grand Chapter which will be held in Austin, Texas in 2008.
