The Regent of Sigma Nu International Fraternity, Inc. Don Densborn (Beta Eta – Indiana) appoints Brandon Knott (Theta Iota – Middle Tennessee) to serve for one term as Collegiate Grand Councilmen of High Council.

The High Council is analogous to the board of directors of a corporation. Headed by the Regent, it serves as the governing arm of Sigma Nu Fraternity during the two-year period between Grand Chapters. It consists of seven alumni members and four voting collegiate members called Collegiate Grand Councilmen. Thus, collegiate brothers are present, and the collegiate voice is heard at each High Council meeting. Few fraternities equal the extent of Sigma Nu’s collegiate voice and vote in the governance of a General Fraternity.

The High Council has general charge of all business and administrative affairs of Sigma Nu Fraternity, except those which are specifically conferred by The Law of Sigma Nu to the Board of Trustees. The powers and duties of the High Council are enumerated in The Law. During the interval between Grand Chapters, the High Council has authority to decide and act on all matters relating to the General Fraternity, especially those which are not specially regulated by The Law.

Headquartered in Lexington, Va., Sigma Nu Fraternity was founded in 1869 at the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, VA. Sigma Nu currently has 196 active chapters and colonies across college campuses nationwide. At Middle Tennessee State University, Sigma Nu is one of the largest and most popular fraternities.
